The Agents Giving “Fundraising Champions Awards” are upon us and Homewise has been recognised in not one, but two categories this year!
Agents Giving is the recognised charity for the UK property industry, helping both national and local causes and raising awareness across the UK. They encourage and support agents’ fundraising efforts to help raise as much money for their causes as possible and do a fantastic job of showcasing the charitable efforts happening throughout the year.
We’re extremely proud and overjoyed to announce that we’ve been nominated for the “Best Creative Fundraising Award” for our imaginative and different fundraising ideas, and the “Special Fundraising Award” for our determination and motivation during our Big Blind Run challenge last month.
The Big Blind Run was a 600km challenge, aiming to cover the distance from Brighton to Belfast, inspired by our friend Bill and in support of Time to Talk Befriending. Our hope is to raise £10,000 this year to support Time to Talk Befriending and the amazing services they offer to the older community in Sussex.
“It’s been a privilege to support this wonderful charity. They work tirelessly to provide a lifeline to the outside world for those suffering in the older community. Loneliness can be hidden from view and anything we can to do to raise awareness, and support Time to Talk, is something we’re so happy to do.
Our team has given up their time to raise money for Time to Talk and have achieved a great feat in the Big Blind Run. We feel so proud and will continue to raise awareness and vital funds for our community.” Mark Neal, Managing Director - Homewise
Each year Homewise supports a number of charities through volunteering time, sponsorships, donations and fundraising opportunities, but this was our biggest to date! As a result of the whole team participation, determination and drive, we achieved over 950km – actually covering Brighton to Berlin over two main events.
Our staff of over 60 people took part in a 10K coastal walk along the Worthing seafront or joined the 10K RSBC Blindfold Run at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park to raise awareness and funds for Time to Talk Befriending. And we didn’t stop there, holding the first ever Homewise Halloween day of fun(draising) in the office and raising almost £400 that day alone!
“I was so proud of the entire team taking part and contributing towards to the goal, and to be recognised by Agents Giving for our efforts is a wonderful way to celebrate. The icing on the cake would be to see Time to Talk receive the full £10,000 target and change so many more lives next year.” Charlotte Embleton, Charity Event Organiser & Office Manager - Homewise
It’s not too late to donate! We’re aiming to raise £10,000 to fund a permanent member of staff at Time to Talk Befriending, enabling them to run their scheme in Worthing on a permanent basis, and we still have a way to go.
Every £1 counts towards changing lives and tackling loneliness in the older community, particularly at this time of year. Share our story and support the charity over on our Just Giving page.
