Learn how our friendly team of experts could help and support your parents, making their move easier. Homewise can help your parents:

We can help your parents afford the perfect home

The Home for Life Plan is a lifetime lease agreement and can be applied to nearly every property on the open market in England and Wales, it doesn’t need to be advertised with Homewise online.

We offer a bespoke saving* on the price of the property which would help your parents afford the right house, in the right area. Your parents would pay the one-off reduced price for the right to live in the property rent, interest and mortgage-free for their lifetime.

The Home for Life Plan is an alternative option to a mortgage, loan or equity release plan. We’re not offering any form of financial service. We simply help people find and move to a home they can live in securely, without any interest or debt, for their lifetime.

We can help your parents free up funds for their retirement

As your parents plan for retirement, financial concerns may weigh on their minds. If your parents wish to pay off an existing mortgage or have past debts to be cleared, their available moving budget may reduce considerably more than they anticipated.

If you’re helping your parents find a new home, it’s best to get a clear picture of their affordability from the start. Use our free budget boost calculator to help. Once your parents have a clear understanding of what they can afford, they may discover their search results are limited.

By using the Home for Life Plan, your parents’ moving budget would be boosted which would broaden their search options. This means they could find the perfect property at a reduced price, pay off any previous debts and free up funds for their retirement without needing to take on any other debt.

With the money saved, your parents could enjoy more travel in their retirement or simply have funds saved for a rainy day. Our Customer Service Consultants would discuss the options with you and your parents in an initial phone conversation, so you’d know what their boosted budget would be right away.

We can help your parents safeguard future inheritance

Parents often worry about their families more than themselves, they’ll rent or live in unsuitable housing for the sake of leaving inheritance in the future. But if you ask families, they want their parents to live a happy and content life, not struggle and feel anxious in retirement.

With the Home for Life Plan, there is always the option for your parents to safeguard up to 50% of the property’s future value. This can be used for inheritance or to fund long-term care when the plan ends in the future, whatever your parents wish.

The percentage safeguarded is agreed and protected when the plan is set. This means your parents can live happily in the home of their choice, rent-free, until they pass away or go in to full time care, safe in the knowledge that their interest is protected too.

We can help your parents enjoy a stress-free move

Moving home can be stressful for anyone, even more so if it’s been some time since your parents last moved house. Our team of property experts know the current market and the property industry inside out and, through our free Move Simply service, will be on hand for every step of their move.

Our in-house Home Moving Team can handle as little or as much of the process as you and your parents like. They’ll offer your parents advice on selling their current property, help conduct searches and run thorough due diligence on potential properties, and even accompany them on viewings to reduce stress and alleviate concerns.

To make the process easier for your parents, our team can handle any negotiations and liaise with the agents on their behalf if they wish. They’ll place the offer, negotiate where necessary and even manage the chain to make sure the purchase is as smooth and stress-free as possible.

We can help your parents be secure for their lifetime

We’re a family-run business at heart, and our values and ethos come from how we would like to see our own families treated. If it’s not good enough for our own parents, then it’s not good enough for our customers. You can trust we’ll always be honest with you and your parents, and if the Home for Life Plan is not the right option for them then we’ll say so.

The Home for Life Plan is a lifetime lease agreement which means your parents will be secure and able to live happily in their home for their lifetime. If both parents are on the lease agreement, then the plan would only end when they have both passed away or moved in to full time care.

This means if one partner passes away for example, the other is still completely protected and secure in their home without having to pay any rent, mortgage or interest at any time.

Choosing Homewise and the Home for Life Plan

We know choosing a Home for Life Plan can be a complicated decision for our customers and it’s a big decision for loved ones too. We’re open and honest about how the plan works and will always take the time to explain each aspect to our customers and their families.

Before proceeding with any Home for Life Plan, an independent solicitor, acting on behalf of the customer, must sign a certificate confirming all parties fully understand the agreement. We’d also hold at least two face-to-face meetings with you and your parents before any commitment is made to the Home for Life Plan.

Commitment would only be made at the point that your parents have found and are looking to make an offer on their next home. Even after this decision is made, your parents are of course free to change their minds right up to the point of exchange, like any normal house purchase.

We know the Home for Life Plan doesn’t necessarily work for everyone but for those we do help it makes a huge difference and we’re really proud of what we do.

Our mission is to revolutionise retirement in the UK. We want to help people retire happy and be secure in a home they love for their lifetime. Whether your parents want to move back from abroad, pay off a mortgage or debt, or simply downsize to a more manageable property, we could help them achieve their goals and feel happy in their retirement.
