Fun for all at the Older People's Festival | Homewise

The Older People’s Festival (OPF) has sadly finished for another year, but what a fantastic celebration it was! This years’ festival delivered a huge programme of fun and informative events (over 100 in 2 weeks!) for all those who attended across Brighton & Hove.

Run by Impact Initiatives, the two-week festival takes its inspiration from the UN’s International Older People’s Day (1st October) and is now in its third year. The crowds and excitement surrounding this year’s launch showed how popular this annual event has become – ensuring it looks set to continue for many years!

We were so proud to support such an important event as the headline sponsor. It was wonderful to see the positive impact on those who visit The Hop 50+ community café in Hove.

Our friendly team were on hand to help with online property searches on Rightmove and Zoopla, providing a free property checklist to make the most out of your search and offering one-to-one advice on the potential savings available through Homewise.

“Being back at the festival was brilliant. The atmosphere was great, and I had a wonderful time meeting some of the local community at the Hop 50+. It’s always a pleasure to meet people face to face, finding out about their situation and seeing if there’s any way we can help them find their dream home – it’s a very rewarding part of the job. I look forward to returning again next year!” Rhonda Wilkins, Homewise Senior Consultant

Our Senior Consultants regularly meet those looking to move home during their travels across the UK and, while we actively support community events throughout the year, it was wonderful for team members from various departments at Homewise to chat to locals looking for property help.

We had a great time getting involved with the community spirit at The Hop 50+, whether they were holding a general knowledge quiz, hosting a photographic exhibition, or putting on a talent show. It was a privilege to see what activities they offer the older generation in the local community.

“Once again it has been great to work with Homewise. The Older People’s Festival is an amazing event and it can only happen with the help of our sponsors. Homewise have continued to support us and have been very welcome at the Hop 50+, offering people tips on how to search online when moving home. Many people in the community are on small pensions and Homewise could help to take the worry out of paying bills whilst being able to choose where to live in their retirement.” Caroline Ridley, Impact Initiatives CEO

You can support Impact Initiatives and the fantastic work they do all year round through volunteering, support in kind, donating and fundraising. The charity help people of all ages to live healthy and fulfilling lives. Volunteers help with gardening, serving meals in cafes and providing counselling to young people, as well as supporting regular charity events in the community. We look forward to seeing you at the Festival next year!
