Royston and Gisela Randall had previously enjoyed their life in a park home situated on the outskirts of Dorchester. After having experienced a number of problems with unruly neighbours they decided the time was right to move home. Their decision to move was also prompted by the realisation that lack of money for their retirement would leave many of their dreams unfulfilled, particularly those to travel and to visit family abroad. Also, day-to-day, the location of their park home meant they had to travel some distance to the shops and without the use of a car this was becoming increasingly frustrating. They were also suffering a general lowering of standards on the park home site and in particular were having problems with an inconsiderate neighbour.
Royston and Gisela contacted Homewise after having seen an advert in a Grand UK Holidays brochure. They were undecided at first as to the type of property they were looking for but took advantage of the impartial help and advice from their Homewise Sales Consultant in making the right decision.
Their chosen property was a purpose-built retirement apartment in Dorchester. The property benefited from being close to local shops and amenities and a short walk from excellent transport links. The apartment was on the market for £153,000 and they only paid £90,270 for a Lifetime Lease. In the move they were able to raise £40,000 from the sale of their park home and this money has made a huge difference to their lives.
Since moving home the Randalls have booked a summer holiday to the Canary Islands, a cruise along the Rhine for later in the year and are planning what Mr. Randall described as a ‘major cruise' around the Baltic for 2008. In addition to this they are planning regular visits to Mrs Randall's family in Germany.
The Lifetime Lease has meant that Royston and Gisela have a lifetime's enjoyment of their ideal home, money to spend on treating themselves and no financial worries for the future. They will be able to pass on an early inheritance to their niece and god-daughter.
