Cynthia Conrad had for some time been enjoying life in Spain, making only fleeting visits back to the UK. The relaxed pace of life and tranquil surroundings in Spain had provided a perfect setting in which to enjoy her retirement and she enjoyed an excellent quality of life.
When her health became an issue Cynthia started considering moving back to the UK as she felt that the standard of care offered in Spain did not match that of the UK. What followed were regular flights back and forth in order to receive the treatment she needed. As these visits increased in frequency it became apparent that moving back to the UK permanantly was the best thing to do.
Initially Cynthia chose to rent accomodation giving her time to consider her options. It soon became apparent however that with a limited amount of money to spend her choice of properties to purchase was very limited. Renting also proved to be expensive and lacked any real long-term security.
Cynthia said: "When I first moved back from Spain it took me some time to decide where I wanted to live. That's why I chose to rent first. It was during this time I realised just how much the cost of property in the UK had increased."
"I had considered a number of possible locations to settle, but chose Norwich as that's where I'd attended school and knew the area well. My initial searches however proved fruitless as house prices in the area were well above my budget yet I didn't want to comprimise on my choice of property. I also knew I didn't want to rent long-term, but was unsure as to what other options were available. It was then I saw an advert for the Lifetime Lease."
The main attraction of the Lifetime Lease for Cynthia was that it meant she could move into a property that matched her requirements and pay well below its market value for a lifetime's enjoyment. Cynthia's chosen home was on the market for £165,000. By using the Lifetime Lease it meant she only paid half the market value. Also, the Lifetime Lease is entirely portable so if at some point in the future Cynthia decides she wants to move again she's free to do so.
